StoryMom (“StoryMom,” “we,” “us”) operates the website at mystorymom.com (the “Service”), where parents and guardians can read illustrated, narrated bedtime stories with their children. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

StoryMom is intended to be set up and used by adults (parents and guardians) on behalf of the children in their care. We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in, we collect your email address so we can send you a one-time sign-in link and identify your account.
• Child profile you provide. To personalize stories, you may tell us a child’s first name (or a nickname), age range, and preferred language. You choose what to enter — a nickname is fine, and we ask only for an age range, not a date of birth.
• Reading & learning activity. We record which stories are opened, time spent reading, saved stories, star ratings, vocabulary words unlocked, quiz results, and the “Spark Points” earned, so we can show your dashboard and progress.
• Technical data. Standard information your browser sends, such as device type, general location (from IP address), and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics (see Section 5).

2. How we use information

• To provide the Service — signing you in, showing stories, and saving progress.
• To personalize content by age range and language.
• To power the dashboard, badges, and Spark Points features.
• To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
• To communicate with you about your account or the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use children’s information to serve behavioral advertising to children.

3. Children’s privacy

We care about children’s privacy and design the Service to minimize data about children. Accounts are created by an adult, and any child profile information (nickname, age range, language) is provided by that adult. We collect only what is reasonably necessary to provide the reading experience and progress features described above. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent or guardian’s involvement, contact us at hello@mystorymom.com and we will delete it.

4. How we share information

We share information only with service providers who help us run StoryMom, including:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
• Vercel — website hosting.
• Resend — sending sign-in emails.
• Google — analytics, and AI text-to-speech and translation used to narrate and translate stories.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.

5. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in, and we use analytics (such as Google Analytics) to understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling necessary cookies may prevent you from staying signed in.

Affiliate links. Some pages may include affiliate links to third-party retailers (for example, books or toys we recommend to parents). These recommendations are intended for parents, not children. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you, and the retailer may set its own cookies on your device. We only link to products we genuinely believe fit our stories.

6. Data retention

We keep account and activity information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@mystorymom.com.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices & rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@mystorymom.com.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
