The Drifting Toy Boat

The little fox cub loved its carved wooden boat, sailing it along the gentle forest stream every sunny afternoon. But one day, dark clouds gathered quickly, and a sudden downpour turned the stream into a rushing river.

The swift current snatched the wooden boat, carrying it downstream faster than the fox cub could chase. "Oh no!" yelped the fox cub, scrambling along the muddy bank, desperate to keep its beloved toy in sight.

The stream widened and deepened, leading to a stretch where a busy beaver had built a sturdy dam. The wooden boat spun around once, twice, then lodged firmly in a tangle of roots near the dam, out of reach.

A large beaver, gnawing on a branch nearby, noticed the fox cub’s worried whines and pointed with its nose toward a long, loose log floating in a calmer eddy. The fox cub looked from the beaver to the log, a new idea sparking in its clever mind.

With determination, the fox cub carefully pushed the heavy log into the water, guiding it until it formed a wobbly bridge toward its stranded boat. Slowly and steadily, it crept onto the log.

Stretching its paw, the fox cub hooked its claws around the little wooden boat and gently pulled it free. Holding its rescued treasure tightly, it scampered back to solid ground, tail wagging with relief and triumph.
