The little squirrel found the biggest, shiniest acorn ever. "This will be perfect for winter!" she chattered happily.

She dug a tiny hole at the base of the oak. But WHOOSH! A mischievous magpie swooped low, its beady eye on the shiny prize.

"Mine!" chittered the squirrel, snatching the acorn back. She scampered into a hollow log, thinking she was safe.

TAP-TAP-TAP! The magpie didn't give up. It flew to the other end of the log and began to peck loudly.

"Aha!" thought the squirrel, a clever idea sparking in her bright eyes. She saw something glinting nearby.

The squirrel quickly tossed the bottle cap far away. WHOOSH! The magpie zoomed after the new shiny thing, and the squirrel finally buried her biggest acorn deep.
Sometimes, a little cleverness can help you solve a big problem.
What did the squirrel use to distract the magpie?
